About
Jason Bickford had done more by the age of 20 than most people do by the time they retire. Jason grew up in a single family home and wanted to provide for his family with a different life than what he had growing up—and so early on he knew that he wanted own his own businesses someday
After completing high school, he purchased his first duplex at the age of 19 and became a very young entrepreneur. He fixed it up, rented it, and soon sold it for a $50,000 profit. That gave him a thirst for more knowledge. He thought it would be beneficial to learn about the mortgage side of real estate. He began a job with a local mortgage office and worked his way up to Senior Loan Officer by the age of 20. During this time he continued to buy distressed properties. He had a simple plan; he would look for the worst homes in the best areas and buy at a discount. That was the philosophy he used to start his first company, Big and Small Homes LLC, through which he bought and sold many properties. Soon after that, he had an opportunity to broaden his real estate horizons and move to Atlanta, Georgia. There he was able to learn a whole new market but in the end decided that Geogia wasn’t on his mind.
While in Atlanta he proposed to his girlfriend, Tammy. They loved the great family values Des Moines had to offer, and they missed their family. They moved back to Des Moines to get married and start their life together.
While planning their wedding, Jason realized there was a need for a local wedding planning website. He and Tammy founded several local wedding planning websites across the country, to help vendors to connect with local brides online. In 2008 they sold the wedding company and decided to take a break from business.
Due to his extensive background in real estate he was offered a job in the loss mitigation department at Wells Fargo Financial. His job was to help homeowners keep from losing their homes. During this time he learned and saw first hand the pain of the current mortgage crisis. His heart went out to these people and he wanted to help. Jason took what he learned and applied it to several new start-ups he is currently working on.
Jason resides in Des Moines with his wife Tammy, and son. They enjoy the Kansas City Chiefs, Iowa State athletics and traveling. In Jason’s spare time he enjoys running and is currently training for his first marathon.
